Women On the Watch (WOW) Society Initiative

Women On the Watch (WOW) Society Initiative is a South African Non-Profit Organisation. The vision of the organisation is an equal society, where women are motivated and empowered, to realise their potentials. Where women are trained and skilled to be self-reliant and equal partners in society, live in safe, sustainable environments that is free from violence and able to access their human rights. The mission is to empower women to be self-reliant to live meaningful lives, realise their potentials, access their human rights, and contribute to their societies.

The activities of the organisation are women’s rights advocacy, education and trainings, enlightenment programs, skills development, and community engagement. The organisation engages in programs of community enlightenment to emphasise the value of the girl child, prevent violence against women and girls and assess various sectors of the community to aid this protection. The organisation empowers women economically through its various skills acquisition programs including trainings on business set up and management. Importantly the organisation trains women and girls in technology for now and the future. These are done through group formation, monthly meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences and special programs. The organisation engages in research and publication on women and children’s rights, issues and development. It also engages in children development, training, and support in areas of challenges or problems in the society.

The Central African Republic has officially ratified the Maputo Protocol!
